Wrocław and the surrounding areas provide great destinations for a summer day out. You can go hiking in the mountains, stroll through the forests, have a swim in a lake, visit a castle or a cave… the possibilities go on and on. Our members have recommended some of their favourite places.

One of my favorite places in Wroclaw is Park Szczytnicki. This beautiful park is over 250 acres in size and is located in the Eastern part of the city. The park contains beautiful trees and winding paths and is lovely in all four seasons. The Japanese gardens are located in the park as is the UNESCO World Heritage Centennial Hall (Hala Stulecia) with its unique outdoor fountain show during the warm months. There is also a beautiful old wooden church in the park not too far from the Japanese gardens. You can easily visit Park Szczytnicki by tram in about 20 minutes from the city center.

The Wroclaw Zoo is really worth a visit. I have never seen such a vast place. It’s like a safari. The animals can spend a relaxing time in a comfortable and well-maintained place. Besides, even if you go with your children, there are plenty of places to play, so you can have a good time with your family.
Chanju Park, Korea
Arboretum Wojsławice is a very beautiful and huge arboretum about 50 km south of Wrocław. They’re open during spring, summer, and autumn. There are various flowers and cherry trees. So the scenery varies greatly depending on the flower of seasons. My favorite season was early June, peony season. But other season was also special, even last week was there were lots of red and beautiful cherries.

If you like cycling in the nature, ponds, birds and fish go to Ruda Żmigrodzka. You can take the train to Żmigród, go to the Zespół Pałacowo-Parkowy and you will find comfortable cycle route which will lead you to Staw Jamnik. Then go by local road to Ruda Żmigrodzka and admire birds at Staw Rudy. Later you can have lunch in Karczma Rybna and enjoy local fish!
